Every where you look on the Internet, it seems somebody is trying to tell you how to optimize your website and get top ten results. Be in the top ten on Google, Yahoo, MSN all in 48 hours. This is ludicrous. If you know how to get top ten rankings in 48 hours on all of the major search engines then you are lying or in the process of being hired by Google. The fact is that nobody can get top ten rankings in 48 hours.
SEO or search engine optimization has gone through many different phases. Webmasters used to do cloaking which is a process of telling the search engine spider something different then what is actually on the page. This allows the web page to get higher rankings. The main search engines ban websites for doing this.
The latest phase in SEO is to get a lot of back links to your site. It is true that search engines like to see other pages linking to yours but search engines want to see relevant web pages linking to your website not just any web site. SEO’s have come out with all sorts of different programs to get you back links. These programs are all usually useless. For one they usually give you irrelevant links and links from spam sites which do nothing for your page rankings. For example if your site is about betta fish then a site that links to you should be about tank fish or something similar to your subject. Irrelevant back links do nothing for your search engine rankings. You also need to have web sites link to you that have a good Page Rank, usually a 4 or better.
Anymore to have a good site with high rankings you need to write for humans and build content on your website. When in doubt, write more unique, relevant content. The search engines are getting more human like everyday and are finding all the tricks that the SEO’s are doing. You can spend your time chasing your tale or you can build quality content that will give you top ten rankings faster.
